I read the last 5 Bachelor Nation books published so you don't have to. Spoiler: you only need to read one of these. See my last reel to see what popular Bachelor Nation phrase I assigned to each.
Alone in Plain Sight
by Ben Higgins
rating: liked *Thanks to Thomas Nelson for a free copy
So I tried to read this book earlier this year in print and DNFed it, but when I went back to read some Bachelor Nation books I decided to do it on audio...and I still wanted to DNF it, but I persevered. Now, this isn't the worst. It just feels forced and while Ben has some good things to say, those things could have been said in a series of Instagram posts and served me better. This book is 240 pages and could easily be 100 and get what he had to say across.
You Deserve Better
by Tyler Cameron
rating: meh
If you want to read a wannabe motivational guru write all his thoughts in a book in the most confusing version of their life timeline this is for you! It needs to be cut in half to get rid of the gratuitous praise from the author about himself and the blurbs from real people in his life that are just supposed to help you like Tyler more. In fact I like Tyler less after this book. Either his ghostwriter thinks Tyler is an idiot or Tyler actually has no writing skills, but this book is written with the same tone and skill of a B level high school essay. Bonus: there is egregious use of the F word.
Made for this Moment

Paging an editor, let's re-outline this and CUT IT DOWN and get rid of anything that is repeated. Then we would have a book 1/4 the length. Granted, I am not the 16-18 year old girl who is OBVIOUSLY the target audience for this. That being said, if that is the target audience, there is so much mention of the ability/inability to get pregnant that the author herself has no experience with and it felt very unnecessary. I think Madison has a good message overall, and I agree with her on most of the spiritual points, but she does not have the life experience or writing chops to present them well. Overall this feels like a poorly led youth message that one summer Sunday in Big Church (if you know, you know).
God Bless this Mess
by Hannah Brown
rating: really liked
This is what you want a Bachelor Nation memoir to be. Hannah spills the tea on her life and is willing to admit when she made mistakes. This is the most real and honest book I have read from any member of Bachelor Nation. Hannah shares her faith throughout the book like some others but it doesn't feel heavy handed. She also shares her mental healthy journey in a way that is so kind to her former self, and I felt proud of how far she has come.
Miss Me With That

Thanks to PRH Audio for a complimentary audiobook.
Written in a mishmash of essay style and memoir following the timeline of her life, Rachel spills all her thoughts and opinions about every element of her life in this read. I thought the book was a little long, and sometimes redundant, but I appreciated Rachel's perspective and all the behind the scenes context she gave, especially about her time on the Bachelor franchise shows. Her calling out the Bachelor producers and fans for their double standards was very telling. She does not pull any punches for anyone here.
