Do you agree that the more you read, the pickier you get?
I was a reading a book recently and I was not really loving it and I realized that if I had read it a couple years ago before I got back into reading, I probably would have enjoyed it. Back then I would not have been so cognizant of things like pacing, commonly use tropes, or cheap plot devices. Or if I had noticed them, I wouldn't have been able to put into words what I wasn't enjoying. So not only does reading more make me pickier, it also makes me a better reviewer. I can better articulate my feelings.
