Thank you for the gifted book Celadon Books.

A Cook's Story; Remaking a Life from Scratch

by: Erin French

rating: really liked

This is equal parts a celebration of food and how it creates space and respite, and a memoir about overcoming adversity. I did not know any of Erin's story going into this reading, so I was in for a roller coaster ride as I read about the journey she has been on in her life to get to be the successful restauranteur she is. Erin has dealt with many hard circumstances both from external and internal forces, and she lets food and cooking be the thing that pulls her from the darkness each time. I really enjoyed the beautiful descriptions of real life events and the food that make me want to book a table at The Lost Kitchen ASAP! This book is for those who love memoirs about rural life, food, and/or overcoming adversity. The language is relatable and yet still beautiful.
