Happy National Cookie Day!
Most of the recipes for our family favorite cookies have been passed down through generations. I associate molasses cookies with my Great-Grandmother because she always showed up to the family reunion with my two favorites: molasses cookies and chicken and dumplings. The molasses cookie recipe was even printed in her funeral program. I love the legacy recipes can bring us.
I also think that we can create a legacy of book memories as well. Those books we prioritize for shared reading experiences can last beyond just the time spent reading. I want to the stories of Anne of Green Gables, Little House on the Prairie, The Wingfeather Saga, Harry Potter, Nancy Drew, and the Chronicles of Narnia to be stories that supersede my personal reading experience. I want to pass them on to my fellow readers as sweet experiences to devour...Just like a good cookie.
What is your favorite kind of cookie and what book would you pair it with as a sweet experience?
