The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie- Review

written by: Rachel Linden

narrated by: Katie Koster

rating: really liked

Lolly's life isn't how she imagined it. After the tragic death of her mother she pivoted hard in her life and now 10 years later is dealing with the what might have been. But when her aunt gives her 3 lemon drops, each one allowing her to live a day in what could of been, she is confronted on what her dreams mean in light of her past, present, and future.

This book is my favorite kind of magical realism, real life with a dose of whimsy. I like that Lolly lives solidly in the real world with just these glimpses of a different reality. I liked how she had to deal with the reality that even if she had followed all her dreams when she first had them, things may not be what she always desired. And ultimately I loved the message of this book being life is never over, you always have a chance to make it new again.
