When Ann Rule got a contract to write her first book about some missing girls, she had no clue what journey the investigation was going to take her on. And she especially had no clue that the evidence would pile up against her friend and former crisis hotline coworker Ted Bundy. As a former Seattle Policewoman and crime writer, she knows how to dive deep into the investigation and refuses to get caught in the hearsay.
I think she gave such a balanced portrayal of her own interactions and impressions of Bundy while also giving us the details of his crimes and history. She gives voices to his victims while not diminishing the cruelties carried out on them.
It took her a long time to be convinced of her friend Ted's guilt, but I think that makes for a more compelling read. If you are a true crime fan and haven't read this one yet, stop waiting, and read it now!
Thanks to my friend @What_Amy_Reads for finally making me pick this one up.
